Adding tags to multiple files at once in Eagle is pretty easy, right? And likewise, deleting the tag from the entire library or deleting tags from multiple files at once is also really easy! Because tags that files have in common are visible at a glance - you just click the x button and you're done! But if you want to delete tags that aren't shared by ALL the selected files, that's a different story.🥲

Say you have 1000 files and you want to remove a specific tag from 999 of them. You'd just select those 999 files (excluding that 1 remaining file), find the tag that shows up as common, and click the x button on the tag you want to delete. Not so much difficult!😉

But what! If🫢, out of those 1000 files, you want to delete:

• Tag A that's only in 150 files
• Tag B that's in 350 files
• Tag C that's in 250 files ...
• Tag Z that's in 10 files?

Hmm... I'd give up!👋 Dream of perfectly arranged library? Haha, Yeah, I don't care anymore, F○○○ it!! 🤪

This kind of situation pops up from time to time. And unfortunately, when this happens, trust me, you’ll either waste your precious life force doing it manually… or just rage-quit like me and throw the whole system out the window.

Then, weeks later, maybe during vacation, you’ll be sitting there thinking,
“Should I actually clean this mess up?”🤔

And eventually… yep🙃, you end up spending ages on it anyway.

So, to save you from this tragic fate and rescue you from such pitiful situations, I made this

Synch Tag Remover!

1. Select the target files you want to delete tags from

2. Run "Synch Tag Remover"

3. You'll see your selected files on the left and all the tags found in your selected files on the right

4. Click on the tag you want to delete - a window will pop up asking if you really want to delete that tag. If you have no regrets about your choice, click it 🙈

5. Now that tag is gone from your selected files. One click, two clicks, done! You no longer need to filter for files that have that tag, select all those filtered files, click x, and reset the filter. You've saved at least half the time, haven't you? 😎

We are deleting something that can't be reverted, so stay alert and test on dummy library, dummy files first before you apply on your real files! And make sure the results are as you expected.

In my case, everything worked as expected and exactly as I wanted. Just because it worked well in my case doesn't guarantee it will work well in yours, so always test on dummy files first before using it on your actual files!

Even after tags are deleted, you might see Tag(1) as if one file still has that tag even when no files actually have it, or the number count for tags might be inaccurate - this is normal, it just needs a refresh.

Turn Eagle off and on again, or switch to a different library and come back. Then the numbers will display correctly. So I recommend turning Eagle off and on or switching libraries and coming back after using this extension, before doing any other file management actions

It means you are using the Free Lite version. Don't worry, it's absolutely normal. This extension you got from Eagle's plugin center page is the Free, Lite version.

No! This Synch Tag Remover doesn't have a Pro version planned yet. 

But maybe in the future, a Pro version might be created 🤫 but the Lite version will always be provided for free, FOREVER!
